WHERE ARE THEY AT?

For the last few weeks, there has been a question that has been running through my mind. It is this: Where are they at? We are living in a world and a society that seems to be changing like we change our socks. The average shelf life for a computer is 6 months, then it is outdated. One minute the stock market is up; then it is down. We live in a society of no fault divorce. We pass the blame to the next person. In society today we are taught not to take responsibility for our own actions. The sad thing is that this mindset I feel is starting to creep into the church. In Acts 2:42-47, we read that all the believers were devoted to Christ. They were not devoted to a pastor or a program, they wanted to do what Jesus told them to do, to go and make disciple of all nations. They knew that God was going to be with them, He was going to give them the courage in the times of trial and persecution. This group of believers knew Christ in a way that I think that the church today does not. Sometimes when we speak the truth it is not gentle or plesant to hear, but Jesus said in John 8:32 "you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." Being devoted to Christ means that we will do whatever He asks of us, whenever He asks us to do it, wherever He wants us to go. Have we just put on Christ as an experiment or are we truly devoted to Him? Where are they at? God just wants a few good men and women whot are truly devoted to Him.

What Does It Mean?

I was reading yesterday in Mark 12:30. I started to ask myself the question what does it truly mean to love God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all you strength. I have seen many people who claim to love the Lord, but where is the devotion to do what Christ has called us to do? (Matthew 28:19-20) To many times I think that we give lip service to God and do not truly love Him the way He deserves. When is the last time you went out of your way to tell someone about Christ and you did not care about what people thought or said about you? When was the last time that you put your arms around the unloved or gave the last few dollars you had in your wallet to the needy? When was the last time that you gave everything you had to a ministry to see the kingdom of God go forward? When was the last time you went to church praying, "God what can I give You today?" Paul said it best, "We are not our own, we are bought at a price." Where is your love for the Father at?

ARE YOU USED?

HAVE YOU EVER FELT USED? I MEAN TO THE POINT WHERE YOU ARE TIRED AND JUST DON"T FEEL LIKE DOING ANYTHING ANYMORE? DO YOU FEEL WORN OUT? BEAT UP? BUT YET WHEN YOU LAY YOUR HEAD DOWN OUT AT NIGHT, YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING GREAT? IF NOT, THEN WHY DON'T YOU? YOU SEE, I THINK THAT IS THE WAY GOD WANTS US TO FEEL, LIKE WE HAVE BEEN USED BY GOD FOR THE KINGDOM THAT DAY. GOD WANTS US TO GIVE HIM OUR VERY BEST FOR THAT PARTICULAR DAY. I MUST BE HONEST, I LOVE FEELING LIKE I HAVE BEEN USED BY GOD. THERE IS NO GREATER FEELING IN THE WORLD. I HOPE FROM THIS EASTER ON YOUR PRAYER IS TO BE USED BY GOD.

WHOSE APPROVAL ARE YOU LIVING FOR?

Whose approval are you living for? This is something that I talk to lots of people about? We live in a society where we try and live up to other peoples' expectations. We have to wear certain clothes, know the right people, say the right things, act certain ways around people. Sadly, Christians act this way as well. Why is this? This morning, I was reading 2 Corinthians 5:9 and Paul says this, "So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it." So the question that needs to be asked is, Who are you living to please? If we are acting certain ways around people so we will be accepted, then we are not truly being who God created us to be. Sometimes we want to be accepted by people, that we will not tell others about Jesus Christ, at this point we are working for man's approval. This my friends is wrong. We have a command from Christ, to be telling the world about Him, regardless is we are accepted by the world or not. We are working to please our heavenly Father.

New Beginnings!!!

I was thinking just the other day, that I needed to find a way to stay in touch with everyone. People have told me for a while that I needed to start blogging. To be honest, it really scared me, but today I decided to bite the bullet and start. Thanks to Christ Rayment, he took the time to explain all the details on how to do it, so here it goes. I am now in the 21st century. It is great. Look for more in the very near future. To boldly go where no Doug has gone before!
